Our congratulations go out to the Fly My Pretties crew and those at Loop Recordings. A Story the new album from the band debuted at number one in the charts this week, a stunning initial result!

As with previous weeks the chart features a number of local acts but before we see whose keeping the nations music retailers cash registers busy we have our song of the day.

Song For The Day
The Fruits - Ten Bob Ticket

Hailing from the four corners of the world to fuse a head melting mix of 50's Blues, 60's Pop and some down right filthy 70's Rock.

Catapulting them selves onto the local scene and turning a few bewildered heads in the process. Many call them "The Strokes meeting The 'Stones", most call them The Fruits.

Ten Bob Ticket is their amplifier debut.

Chart Action

In this weeks chart roundup we see Fly My Pretties take top honours with A Story entering the album charts at number one. Another sterling chart debut comes from the opensouls whose Standing In The Rain came in at number eight.

Other acts sitting pretty in the top forty albums are Fat Freddy's who have dropped to number 12. J Williams popularity continues with his album sitting at number 17. Sweet & Irie, Tiki, Minuit and Dimmer's albums also feature.

In the singles chart Gin Wigmore is hogging the action with three releases charting, her debut EP Extended Play is at number 39 and just behind it is her collaboration Brother with Smashproof. Her latest single Oh My debuts at number 21.

Smashproof's new single No Ordinary life also appears at number 7 with J Williams'  Stand With You one place ahead at number 6 making it our highest charting single for the week.

Kids of 88 continue their run with My House currently sitting at number 22, that's 13 weeks in the chart now. Tiki and Dane Rumble also feature.

In the compilation stakes The Great New Zealand Songbook moves up to number 2 with 17 weeks in the charts - expect a big push around this for the Christmas market.
